We next visited Page, Arizona, the site of the Glen Canyon dam and Lake Powell, considered by environmentalists to be one of the great tragedies of the American West. The dam took10 years to build and was completed in 1966. The next 10 years were spent slowly flooding Glenn Canyon burying one of the great treasures of canyon country that some say rivaled the Grand Canyon. In Page we visited the Powell Museum, a wonderful diversion from the dam, that focuses on the history of Grand Canyon explorations.

After another RV park night in Page we headed towards Tuba City in the
Heart of the Navajo Reservation hoping to eat breakfast at a restaurant we
like, “Kate’s CafĂ©” but alas it was boarded up. We found some great Navajo food
nearby, corn and green chile Navajo stew for breakfast with some frybread of
course.

This may be my favorite photo so far !!! We are driving towards the Hopi Mesas |

Lunch on the road, MPG style. It was a real challenge to get Carol and Kate to be seen along with the stunning view thru the window but thanks to my Lightroom lessons with Fletcher Oakes I pulled it off!! Not the best photo on the planet but a fun shot none the less. |
